What do you do when you need
someone to meet a delivery
or to meet a service person?
The usual answer we hear is "I leave work and sit around waiting."
Or perhaps they tell us that they ask a
friend to watch out for the delivery
or service person.
Or - worst of all- they just tell the person coming to
their home
where the key is.
Then they hope things work out.
While most people are honest not everyone is,
and even if they are they may need someone
to show
them
where the breaker box is or to cut the water off for them.
Edisto Home Watch can solve this problem for you. All we ask is reasonable
advance notice and - in
an emergency - even with no advance notice
we will try to meet your need. Best yet, we only charge you for the time it actually
takes (1 hour minimum) and the distance we need to travel .
If the service person is on time and
it only takes an hour that's the time you pay for.
Don't know who to call?
We'll even help you find a reputable local service person if you need one.
Need a plumber, an electrician,
a roofer,
or someone to grade your driveway?
We maintain a list of subcontractors that have worked
with us on previous projects
who
did a good job and deserve a recommendation.
If you request it we will meet them at your home and supervise the work.
While we do not guarantee their work at least you know it's someone we have had
a good
experience
with in the past. You won't get that from the yellow pages!
Plus
we'll take digital pictures and send them to you when the work is complete
so that you can see that it's been done.

We try to spot problems before they become serious. We've reported rot,
leaks, and limbs on roofs
to owners who have avoided much greater
problems as a result.

One critical part of our service is staying alert to the potential
for animal intrusion into your home.
Open eves are an invitation
to birds, raccoons, and squirrels,
and so
are openings under your floor.
Newly torn screens are also worthy of attention
because animals are
always
looking for a way in.
Not only do they make a mess, tearing open bags and
scattering papers. Animal
intrusion can present a very real fire danger.
Animals will
chew on wires and bring in flammable materials like pine straw. One
squirrel nest in an attic can take three large trash bags to remove.
We look for such things and when we spot them we report the problem
to you so you can have it
fixed before it becomes dangerous.

Edisto, like all of the coast, has
significant storms. Not just hurricanes
and tropical storms but severe thunderstorms, lightning, and even occasional hail.Power outages, downed trees, flooding can all be issues. Over the years we have moved trees out of driveways, reported power outages, reported telephone outages, and picked up debris. But often more importantly we have given an all clear. "Your home is fine,
don't be concerned." Isn't that worth
$2 a day?
